Kathy Harlow, LMT, ERBT Practitioner, Life Coach and Trauma Recovery Consultant
I began my journey into the world of healing and growth for the body mind and spirit by becoming certified as a personal trainer in 2002. I began to do personal training as I worked my way through massage school. I finished my massage course in 2003 and began to practice massage immediately. Throughout the 21 years of my practice, I have continually studied, researched and have taken many hours of continuing education. I began to come to terms with how often physical pain (including my own) has emotional origins. I sought out an emotional energy technique as a client called Emotional Polarity Technique. As I received my own healing through this technique, I decided to become certified as a practitioner. As I integrated this technique in my practice, I began to add my other modalities and certifications into this technique and changed the name to Emotional Release and Balancing Technique. For the past several years I have been focusing my business on this emotional technique with an emphasis on trauma. I will continue to use my skills with intuitive massage as a supplement to this work when necessary and available.
About Emotional Release and Balancing Technique
Emotional Release and Balancing Technique is an energetic treatment used to bring emotions, destructive behavioral patterns and limiting beliefs into conscious awareness. Awareness leads to acceptance and finally release using this highly effective technique.
Emotional Release and Balancing Technique is an empowering technique that addresses physical pain, reduces stress and chatter in the brain and increases peace in the spirit. This technique uses healing practices such as magnet therapy and affirmations to release undesirable behavioral patterns and limiting beliefs. ERBT uses tools that allow one to gain awareness of how these behavioral pattens began and change the limiting beliefs that reinforce these patterns. ERBT encourages new patterns that give light to a life filled with more purpose, success, joy, peace and love.
Emotional Release and Balancing Technique can address emotional trauma that occurred from childhood or very recently. Trauma may be defined as any event at any stage of life that caused the body to react in a fight, flight, fawn or freeze response. Once the body goes into this response the conscious brain shuts down. Once the conscious brain shuts down our ability to reason and intellectualize also shuts down. This shut down causes a disconnect between our brain and our body and dysfunction inevitable follows especially when we do not fully recover from or process the trauma or continue to live our lives in a heightened state of vigilance. This dysfunction can be organ dysfunction, physical pain, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, unexplainable physical illness and difficulties with personal and/or professional relationships.
We all acquire and accept beliefs in the face of adversity that do not apply to normal daily life. Confusion can occur in the brain and manifest in the body when we are in periods of fight, flight, fawn or freeze even from early childhood experiences or even from generational family beliefs. These beliefs form our behaviors, reactions and actions in our life so much so that we often don't even recognize these beliefs or behaviors exist due to their early origins. Even if we do recognize them, it can prove difficult to change them as the body can falsely believe that these behaviors or beliefs are keeping us alive. Emotional Release and Balancing Technique creates an opportunity to take a look at these beliefs and/or behaviors so that a better coping skill or belief can be integrated. These changes can cause complete transformation to the mind, body and spirit.
If you want to take responsibility for your life, become aware of your behaviors and beliefs that sabotage your sense of peace and your relationship to yourself and others choose ERBT today!
Answers to a few questions you may have about Emotional Release and Balancing Technique
What will the session be like?
Emotional Release and Balancing Technique uses healing techniques from cultures around the world. It begins with bringing the body and the brain back to balanced polarity. This is done by using ordinary positive and negative charged magnets. We do this because, most of us spend too much time in our brain, due to our demanding and busy lifestyles. Over time the polarity of our brain becomes too strong and causes an imbalance. This imbalance, like any imbalance in our environment, causes a lack of peace and harmony.
The next step is to determine dysfunction in the body. This is done with kinesiology testing (aka: muscle testing) a tool used to access your bodies innate knowledge. The dysfunction will be balanced with the magnets. At this point affirmations will be constructed by the practitioner, for you to repeat, to bring the thoughts of the mind and the function of the body back to a state of harmony. The session can be enhanced by using essential oils or can be done without. Bodywork can also be added if necessary.
How is Emotional Release and Balancing Technique different from traditional psychotherapy?
ERBT is not a clinical therapy. It is not designed to provide a diagnosis or label for any disease or emotional disorder. ERBT is a holistic energy treatment designed to guide one to a gateway of emotional change, self-awareness and spiritual growth. ERBT is not talk therapy, you need not come to the session prepared with stories from your past. The practitioner is trained and certified in Emotional Energy work but is not a certified clinical therapist. ERBT combined with life coaching is designed to change your behavioral habits and beliefs that are destructive to your health and wellbeing.
How many sessions will I need?
As with all treatments, there are many factors that determine the amount of treatment one may need. Many individuals find amazing results in as few as 4-5 sessions and feel that they can continue what they have learned without any additional reinforcement. Other individuals love the technique so much that they will continue to do a session a few times a year for the rest of their lives. The technique changes with you and supports you along whatever part of the path you are on that day. I will not try to recommend a treatment plan to you. We will work together to determine what you feel is best. Nothing will be prescribed. Any recommendations for nutritional changes will be at your own discretion.
Emotional Balancing on the Table with Oils
This is a combination therapy with body work and emotionally balancing included. The oils are applied to different parts of the body with massage techniques. As the oil is being applied the practitioner will create affirmation and forgiveness statements that go along with the emotions held in each area of the body. These statements can be generic or created specifically for you based on your current level of emotional unrest. This session is great for someone under a great deal of stress. This treatment is used to balance the mind, body and spirit by creating a relaxing environment to release emotions and beliefs that are causing emotional unrest, pain and tension in the body. This is a 90-minute session.
Life Coaching and Certified Trauma Care Giver
Life coaching for behavior modification, managing stressors, healthy coping skills and changing neurological dysfunction is in conjunction with the Emotional Release and Balancing Technique or can be done separately. Addressing trauma and how these experiences have effects on our behaviors, beliefs and coping skills is vital to making productive changes in our lives.
